Seaman XR-5 & XR-3 Geomembranes are utilized for a variety of containment applications.
XR resin is formulated for Ultraviolet and Ozone resistance and is an excellent geomembrane to use in an exposed environment. Although an exposed liner already offers a relatively long life, the liner can be covered to prevent UV exposure which will considerably extend the lifespan. An XR-5 geomembrane is also resistant to a wide range of chemicals and specifically formulated for hydrocarbon exposure. This particular geomembrane is typically deployed in large and small projects and is widely used for secondary containment in tank farms and industrial operations. Seaman also offers XR Membrane material that is specifically formulated and NSF tested for potable water applications.
Quality Lining co., Inc. shop fabricates XR-3 & XR-5 geomembranes in panel sizes that are designed to best fit the installation plan for your specific project. Xr-3 & Xr-5 geomembranes are scrim-reinforced and therefore have excellent puncture and tensile strength properties. Shop fabrication of large panels allows for rapid deployment over large areas in a relatively short period of time. The installation of an XR-3 & XR-5 Geomembrane must be accomplished with specialized seam welding equipment in the hands of trained technicians. Testing of seams also requires various testing apparatuses that are designed to assure that a quality installation is achieved. The actual test to be performed is determined by the application and seam type. Seams are made with wedge welders on long and straight field seams and "hot-air" welders are utilized for detail seams, pipe boots, etc. It is very important that an XR membrane be installed by experienced technicians that are familiar with inherent factors related to this particular geomembrane. Welding methods and parameters, quality control procedure, testing procedure, and installation documentation are all important elements to assure that a quality installation is achieved.
Design engineers should consider previous projects as a factor when qualifying an installer. This provides a reasonable indicator of the installer’s experience but it should also be considered that a company does not necessarily maintain identical capabilities from year to year. Previously installed square footage also does not reflect the quality of the work performed by said company. We believe that the most important criteria is likely reflected through project references, which should be provided by an installer for comparable projects of similar complexity and scope-of-work.
